We made the big move! When I got home from my lovely vacation with my family (by the way, my brother-in-law got home from his mission on August 19th from California and it was such a happy day--I don't know why I didn't post--but I am just thrilled to have him home) I immediately started packing up our old apartment. Everything for the house we were buying all worked out while on was on vacation. We signed on Friday, August 29th, and then moved in the next day! Well, here is where the story begins.
We actually moved into our garage. [My mom and step-dad were so wonderful--they drove all the way down here to give us some help. We couldn't have done it without them.] Back to the story! We were getting new carpet (the old carpet is pink and you can see exactly where all the foot traffic was), so we had to wait to move everything in. We thought it was only going to be a couple days, but that didn't work out. I don't want to bore you with all the details, but let's just say that Home Depot is not the place to get your carpet from. The price was good though. Anyway, we got ambitious during our wait and decided that since we didn't care about the old carpet, we might as well paint! We thought we would paint the living room because that is what most people see when they come over. Then we decided the bedroom needed to be painted too! And why not the hallway, and the extra room, and the closet... Okay so we painted everything except the baby's room and the laundry room! And painting is so much more time consuming than I had originally planned (I had never painted before).
Here are some before pictures (I am not a photographer, but I did my best):

The living room (don't mind the mess).

The dining room (I hated this pink bay window--gag!)

Part of the bedroom. The walls were all a light tan color and there were so many holes in the wall. I'm not really sure what the previous owners needed so many holes for.
Here are some during pictures:
You can see the darker brown we chose to paint. We painted most of the living room and the hall with that color. The wall with the window we painted a darker brown, but I couldn't get any good pictures of it with all the light behind.
Scamper was a big help, playing in his playpen. When he got upset being stuck in there, my mom watched him. She was such a help! This year we put a new meaning behind the "holiday" Labor Day (although it is better than being in labor like I was last year). We labored all day and late into the night trying to get as much done as possible (thinking we would get our carpet the next day). My mom and step-dad had to leave Monday (Labor Day) night to get home, so just the Hubby and I kept working--but we got a lot done with them around. Okay, this is getting too long...blah, blah, blah. We still didn't get carpet, but we did decide to paint our baseboards and door frames! What a joke. Let's just say we painted all day every day. Well, the Hubby had to work, but I painted all day, every day. We finished painting, and FINALLY got our carpet installed. The Hubby and I pulled out all the old carpet and padding, so that was a blast--especially juggling all the mess with a small baby in the house. Chaos just doesn't do it justice. We got our carpet installed on the 10th, and our house looks great.
Here are some after pictures:

The closet in our bedroom--this one took forever to paint.

Part of the bedroom (we went with a gray color, which didn't look too bad with the awesome wallpaper that was already there!)

The hallway looking into the extra bathroom and the baby's room. Notice the beautiful trim around all the doors!

We didn't paint in the baby's room (besides the baseboards) but we did put up a new border since the previous one didn't go all the way around-weird. I love the way it turned out!

Scamper loves it too, even though he obviously doesn't know that it is Nemo.

The dining room. We painted over the hideous pink with a darker red/brown.

We went with the same gray color in the extra bedroom as well. Again, notice the baseboards. These are now our prized accomplishments!
Now that we are finished painting and our new carpet is finally here, we can officially move in! We have most everything moved in to the house from the garage, just lots of unpacking and re-arranging to do. Wish me luck!
(It was a LOT of work and a lot of stress, but I do feel incredibly blessed to be in a house with my wonderful family. It is an exciting time for us.)

Wow, wow, wow! You guys really have experienced chaos. I can't believe how much painting you've done (that is so much work). And I really can't believe how you guys did it all with a 1 year old. Amazing! Your house looks beautiful. I like the colors you chose.
Whoa, what a lot of work! But I bet it feels great! I'm so impressed with all the painting. Good job! And even though you had to wait longer than planned for the carpet, it allowed all that fabulous-looking painting. Blessing in disguise, right? :)
Ooo I love the new paint and nice choice in trim!
Oh, wow!! That is a LOT of work! What a pain about the carpet - but kind of nice that you were able to do all the painting without worrying about your new carpet! :)

Yea! Good for you guys! We have done the same thing, re-doing a whole house with a baby around wanting to help and explore. We stuck him in a playpen with licorice. Terrible? Yes--and what a mess!
