Birthday Boy!

So this post is late, but that is how it goes! I am now back home which means I am back to no Internet! How much I enjoyed it at other people's houses! Little Scamper turned 1 year old on September 2nd. I can't believe I have a 1 year old now. Seriously! What happened? Well, amidst all the chaos, we did have a small celebration for him. Here is Scamper's present from Grandma S. We celebrated a day early since she was in town to help move. This toy converts into a walker, and Scamper loves it. He was up and pushing it around within a few minutes.
Here are Scamper's two friends over for the party! I am so lucky to have great girlfriends with boys about Scamper's age. And it just gets to be more fun as they get older.
Opening presents (not really sure what is going on!)
Checking out the merchandise. Another annoying toy that makes too much noise. But I'm the one who bought it, so I can't blame anyone else.
Okay, so I wracked my brain trying to come up with something to give Scamper to dig into for his "birthday cake." I didn't want him to have sugar since I have always been so careful with his diet. Muffins? Jello? Pudding? Banana bread? Carrot cake? I gave up. Everything has tons of sugar or butter or fat! I figure he has to try sugar sometime. So I just made a regular cake.
And boy did he enjoy it! When his small slice was gone, he looked around for more. But sadly, that is all he got. No more sugar for quite a while!

What a cute little birthday boy. I was also really careful about sugar with Lizzie that first year. But I decided to go with a cake too and she hated it. This second year I have become a lot more relaxed sugar wise and though she does like some sugary things, she is still not a fan of cake.

Looks like fun. I didn't realize how close our kids are in age. My baby will turn 1 next month. Crazy! Time flies, doesn't it?
